Cocoplans at 15 gets more energetic
Energetic and invigorating Cocoplanners celebrated Cocoplans’ 15th anniversary in the industry at the 21/F Penthouse, BA Lepanto Condominium Corp., Paseo de Roxas, Makati City last October 16, 2009, Friday.
With this year’s theme, Enriching Lives with Energized Spirit, Cocoplanners took the moment to celebrate the past 14 years of grace, victory over trials and triumph amidst crisis with confidence for the coming years as the company reaches its 15th year anniversary.
The program started with a prayer led by the Mass Committee headed by Business Conservation Specialist Oliver A. Cabbuag of Customer Service Department. Cocoplanners solemnly sang Thank You Lord to give praise and thanks for the blessings that the company received amidst crisis in the industry followed by the white balloon ceremony.
“Our fifteen years is significant because we have been able to hurdle so many trials, upheavals and problems while at the same time recognizing the many blessings, achievements, opportunities gained and lost, as well as accolades,” President Caesar T. Michelena said in his opening remarks.
In his welcome remarks, President Michelena also said that with all the changes that happened in the biggest financial markets worldwide, it tells us to make sure that Cocoplans should take good care of the important things – keeping the main thing the main thing. It also reminds us to keep everything simple.
“It reminds us that we are in the pre-need industry to enrich the lives of our planholders. Be proud that, for 15 years, we have enriched the lives of many Filipinos by giving their benefits due. This is our basic promise to them. In Cocoplans, we try to make things simple and I believe this is where pre-need is strong,” he added.
Moreover, President Michelena also told Cocoplanners the things that work for Cocoplans for 15 years. One of which was that Cocoplans remained together in both purpose and commitment accompanied by the continuous confidence and dying support of Cocolife, its mother company.
The opening remarks was followed by a refreshing and energetic feet on the floor by the Northern Luzon business associates. Everyone in the room was amazed by the way their hips and their feet grooved with the music.
After the dance number, the Employees Activities Committee (EAC 09) presented the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility project – we KAN SERve. It was followed by the announcement of EAC’s Enchanting Lady and Marvelous Hunk of the Night contest. Five stunning females and five handsome guys were secretly picked to be the nominees for the said one peso for vote contest which proceeds will be given to the children suffering from cancer.
The awarding of the 15th anniversary drive was held right after the announcement of the nominees. Sales Associates from Luzon and Metro Manila Operations were given plaque of recognition for the extra efforts they had shown during their respective sales drives. It was not just the sales people that were given the appreciation. After a song rendered by last year’s defending Cocoplans Duets champion Angel Aggabao of Binondo Business Center, recognition of each department was done. Department heads and their staff members were asked to go on the stage to be recognized for the sacrifices and efforts, performances and projects they’ve done for the benefit of the company.
Moreover, Cocoplans also gave due recognition to this year’s Cocoplanners who contributed their skills and continuously helping the company in its pursuit to excellence through loyalty and service. Among the first fifteen year service awardees were President Caesar T. Michelena, Corporate and Special Sales Department Head Rose Raquel L. Timbang, Sales Administrative Department Head Marie Lois V. Malbarosa and Plan Services Department Head Heidi G. Tuazon. Administrative Services Associate Jasmin D. Opis of the Human Resources and Administrative Services Department was also awarded for her 10 years of service to Cocoplans.
After honoring the 15th and 10th year service awardees, hosts Dominick D. Pangan and Mae Anne O. Villanueva with the help of EAC’s Chairman Joy M. Mallari named the Enchanting Lady and Marvelous Hunk of the Night. Ms. Marivic Miguel and Southern Tagalog Regional Head Alexander K. Macalintal were announced winners of the said contest. Also, part of the contest was a raffle draw for those who voted for the winning female and male of the night. Business Development Manager Xryn Mortel of Metro Manila Operations (MMO) 20 and Senior Business Development Manager Raul Aqunio of MMO 3 each won a Union electric fan.
Cocoplans Managing Director, Atty. Alfredo C. Tumacder, Jr. gave his congratulations to the company and its people. He said, “You made Cocoplans what it is today! I am very positive of the future of Cocoplans especially now that the pre-need industry is under the regulation of the Insurance Commission. I am happy with the way Cocoplans celebrates its anniversary. You are making a statement of our stability.”
Mr. Tumacder also admitted that Cocoplans had been under too much pressure this past few months but still Cocoplans made it. He also told Cocoplanners as he ended his message, “I don’t see you as crystals, I see you as diamonds.”
Cocoplanners enjoyed the rest of the night in the dance floor.
